Microsoft Pushes Back Vista SP1
Microsoft on Wednesday confirmed that the first service pack for Windows Vista will be out in the first quarter of next year, along with a final service pack for XP, reports Computerworld. The update had been expected by the end of 2007.
The company issued a new Vista SP1 beta last week to invited testers, but it has leaked onto the Internet, reports vnunet.com.
The 684 MB pack of security patches and other hotfixes updates existing copies of Vista, while the first such release, at more than 3 GB, was Vista with the SP1 already added, according to InfoWorld.
Meanwhile, many users remain frustrated with Vista. In a Computerworld article, David Milman, CEO of Rescuecom Corp., which operates a chain of IT support franchises , offers this advice:
Wait for six months after Vista SP1 appears before moving to Vista. Microsoft certainly does need to address Vista's problems [with SP1], but we're telling customers to stay with XP for at least the rest of 2007 and through much of 2008 if SP1 is delayed to the start of that year.
