Gamification is becoming a major trend in the worlds of technology and retail. Gaining points and rewards for your purchases is now a standard practice for many large chain stores or shopping websites in every retail category. However, most of the time the goal of earning points simply leads to future discounts on more merchandise from the same store. While customers might appreciate those discounts, cool person in technology Daniel Todd believes that it would be even better if customers could get rewards from shopping that would not be easily attainable otherwise. Todd’s company Affinity offers retail companies a system where their customers don’t just receive discounts or merchandise from the same store they are already shopping at, but instead receive exclusive and unique rewards donated by celebrities. Under Todd’s system, people can shop at retail locations affiliated with Affinity and earn points for each purchase at each of those stores. People can then use those points to get special and unique prizes from their favorite celebrities on the Affinity platform. Users can access Affinity’s shop through the company’s web platform on their computers or mobile devices. GymFu aims to make sure that you push yourself and intensify your workouts to get the absolute most out of them every time. If you are someone that constantly gets stuck in the same workout routine and benefits little from it, then this cool product might be exactly what you need. GymFu helps users increase the reps and sets in their workout routines over time. On the company website, it says that so far, 40% of the app’s users double the reps in their workouts. Assuming these numbers are accurate, GymFu is clearly working for the people who have downloaded it so far. The GymFu app is currently only available on Apple devices. Customer engagement is critical for website services and mobile applications. Zepeda founded Playbasis in 2011 in order to help both startups and established businesses use gamification to improve user engagement with their services. Zepeda’s company believes that user engagement and behavior is key to providing a company with useful insights into their business practices. Zepeda’s clients receive access to an online platform that allows them to set “rules” for their service or app. These often come in the form of special badges or achievements that customers earn from their usage of a website or application. For example, a business could award a “power user” badge to a site user who signs in to its service over five hundred times. Playbasis offers a number of pre-created rule-sets for businesses to use, but also lets them create their own set based on how users interact with a product.
