There are many resources for researching jobs on the Internet. Between employment sites and social networking sites, there are many ways to find out about both available jobs and employers online. In fact, many employers now use Internet-based applications exclusively when they hire. But no site mixes job hunting and social networking quite the way JIBE does. Informing jobseekers and employers about JIBE and its benefits is the work of Suzanne Flynn Speece! Read more »

With technology in a constant state of development, it is very easy to find yourself in possession of equipment that is no longer state-of-the-art. In fact, prior to the development of USB standards, there was a remarkably short amount of time between when all sorts of technologies and interfaces went from being state-of-the-art to obsolete. Within the consumer electronics market, there is a significant population of people who cannot afford every upgrade or simply does not want to change their hardware simply because manufacturers have created something new. Catering to that market is StarTech.com and Paul Seed. Read more »

Smartphones can do amazing things. From mapping your current travel plans to ordering your dinner, there are innumerable things a smartphone can do. But what many private consumers fail to consider about smartphones is that their operating systems are not always compatible with the enterprise software of individual businesses. As a result, most smartphone manufacturers devote an entire division to meeting the unique needs of business clients. For Motorola Mobility, that responsibility falls to Christy Wyatt! Read more »

Artists and designers, as a general rule, want to make an impact on the world around them. Artists try to open the eyes and minds of their audience to a new way to see the world. Designers try to reshape the world by pushing the limits of convention or creating styles that intrigue consumers in a way that resonates with all who experience their designs. There are, arguably, no more effective artist/designers in the world today than Yves Behar. Behar is not simply trying to change the world in an abstract way; he is using technology. Read more »

Running a business is, joke intended, a full-time job. The bigger the business, the more complicated it is to maintain and grow the business. Big companies are not the place for micromanagers; all of the great executives have a staff that they depend upon to deal with specialized divisions of their company. Arguably one of the most important roles a CEO can fill is that of an Operations Officer. Executives in charge of Operations are the professionals who ensure that the supply chain is uninterrupted, the facilities are fully functional and products in production are shipping according to schedule. For the computer memory manufacturer Nvidia, the Executive Vice President of Operations is Debora Shoquist. Read more »

One of the things that very few people consider when they talk about the economic downturn in the world today is how it affects emerging technologies. When consumers do not have the financial resources to continue spending on luxuries, developing technologies stall. Unfortunately, technological development does not occur in an economic vacuum; the reality of financing demands that great ideas be developed into potentially profitable products. Few people know how an amazing idea may be crushed by the demands of sweeping economic movements the way Michael Schuette does. Read more »

With so many high-end peripherals for personal computers specialized toward very specific computers, consoles and operating systems, it can be a very financially trying time for even the best manufacturers. After all, whenever an OS manufacturer upgrades or entirely revamps the operating system they manufacture, the peripheral manufacturer must alter the programming and sometimes even the design of the computer hardware they manufacture. Movea, the manufacturer of the Air Mouse, knows all about the challenges of staying current in an industry where the technology their products interface with is constantly changing. That is why Movea hired Anne Gabrot. Read more »

Sometimes, the best ideas come from the ashes of a previous idea that simply did not work out. When ZeptoLabs began making computer games, the chief programmer worked very hard on a physics software engine. That engine was programmed to realistically mimic how objects fell based upon a player cutting the ropes that suspended the object. ZeptoLabs went with a different game mechanic for their first release, Parachute Ninja. However, the programmer who worked on the initial version of the game thought there might be a way to use that game engine. That tenacious programmer was Efim Voinov! Read more »

As more and more technology purchased and used in the United States is manufactured in China and China has one of the world’s few growing economies, relations between the United States and China are especially important. While there are numerous government organizations and individuals that negotiate trade and commerce between the United States and China, there are very few people who are truly considered experts on trade and commerce with China. One of the most important voices in advising both China and the United States on investing is Jing Ulrich. Read more »

Sometimes, the hard work of an executive is realized when the company they work for is bought out. As a matter of course in corporate negotiations, companies that are being bought out tend to have executives who the new company must either absorb or compensate. Large companies give promotions to the most valuable executives in such mergers as encouragement to stay on to make the transition between the old company and the new company smoother. William D. Ingram has proven his worth in the telecommunications world; in at least two corporate buy-outs, his professional advancement has been a part of the package! Read more »
