The Internet is a spawning ground of great new ideas. As a result, a whole industry within the industry has developed that focuses on aiding creative minds and programmers to create new products, services, and applications for the Internet. One of the most intriguing of such sites is Fireplace, a site designed to randomly generate start-up ideas. One of its founders is the very cool Gilan Avidan.
Gilan Avidan is the Co-Founder of Fireplace and an entrepreneur in his own right. In fact, while he still works with Fireplace and manages it as the company’s CEO, his time is currently deeply invested in launching Smore. Smore, which is currently in Beta testing, is a graphics intensive, deeply social, virtual flyer creator and publisher. Designed to both help you create useful and exciting virtual advertising campaigns and track the results with very clear analytical tools, Smore is launching soon out of Beta and, as one of the Co-Founders of the site, has Gilan Avidan very excited and busy these days.
That Gilan Avidan would work so hard to develop a new application that is graphics intensive and aims to be pleasing to the eye is unsurprising considering that he is an amateur photographer in his spare time. Avidan understands style, graphic design, and the impact that digital photography may have on your advertising campaign. He has worked very hard to integrate those stylistic sensibilities into all of his start-ups. Avidan’s photography has a wide range of subjects, from people to landscapes to man-made objects.
Gilan Avidan began his professional career as a Security Researcher as part of the Israel Defense Force. After four years of military service, he rejoined civilian life as an engineer and researcher for the security firm Cellebrite. There, he rose through the ranks over three years by researching and reverse engineering mobile phones and iTunes in order to allow Cellebrite software engineers to sync their software across different platforms and operating systems. After a year as Lead Researcher, Gilan Avidan decided it was time to strike out on his own and he left Cellebrite to focus on his start-up, Fireplace.
With Fireplace continuing to inspire entrepreneurs, Gilan Avidan is hoping Smore will be another successful enterprise and with his determination, skill, and sense of style, he seems headed for success!
