Working To Bring Renewable Energy To The World, Kevin Lindegaard Is Very Cool!
Energy independence is an international initiative of which every major industrialized nation is a part. The hunt for renewable and reliable energy sources is of incredible interest to the tech sector, especially as it relates to building batteries that more efficiently retain a charge and generate electricity. There are a wide range of alternative energy sources being explored, from wind power and solar to generating electricity through biofuels. Working at the forefront of the international effort to increase awareness and utilization of biomass for power generation is Kevin Lindegaard.
Kevin Lindegaard is an internationally-recognized biomass energy expert who continues to raise awareness of biomass farming and energy generation techniques and execute operations in the biomass field for Crops for Energy. Crops for Energy helps farmers interested in creating crops for biomass power generation plan and execute plans to most efficiently use land, water, and other resources to farm biomass crops. Lindegaard serves as Director of Crops for Energy. There, Kevin Lindegaard designed an entire course for Lantra that is recognized as one of the most comprehensive accredited courses on energy crops.
Armed with a Master’s of Science degree in Plant Breeding from the prestigious University of Wales in Aberystwyth, Kevin Lindegaard set out to change the world. To do that, he joined the Long Ashton Research Station in January of 1996. The joint UK/Swedish European Willow Breeding Partnership was an ambitious project at the Long Ashton Research Station to which Kevin Lindegaard significantly contributed. Lindegaard is credited with effectively breeding at least seven new strains of high-yield, disease-resistant willows. Willows are one of the chief plants used for biomass fuel, so Lindegaard’s new varieties immediately contributed to the field of alternative energy exploration and generation.
After seven years with the Long Ashton Research Station, Kevin Lindegaard found his expertise to be very much in demand. The Swedish company Lantmannen hired Lindegaard to advance their company in the UK, which Lindegaard did as their Technical Development Manager. In November of 2005, Kevin Lindegaard became the Renewable Energy Development Officer for the Dorset County Council. In that role, Lindegaard came up with standards and plans to make the county more energy independent. Lindegaard’s guidance of the Dorset Energy Group set the standards that are still used there today.
After almost three years of independent contracting work as an expert and manager in the field of renewable energy, Kevin Lindegaard settled in as the Director of Crops for Energy. In that role, Kevin Lindegaard works every day to positively change the world.
