When Sachin Agarwal Accomplished All He Wanted To . . . He Started His Own Company!

There is something awkward and fascinating about geniuses who peak at a young age.  While most people work for years to accomplish all that they want, many young geniuses achieve early and spend their adult years taking on projects they enjoy, more than working for money.  On the eve of his move out to San Francisco to start Posterous, co-founder Sachin Agarwal declared that he had accomplished everything he had dreamed of.  That’s not bad for a twenty-eight year old!  Now, four years later, Sachin Agarwal continues to redefine social media on the Internet.

Sachin Agarwal is the co-founder of Posterous, a San Francisco-based Internet company that works to make blogging and sharing material online easy.  Agarwal created an online engine that competes effectively with Facebook as a nexus for posting content online.  Posterous allows you to simply e-mail content to the Posterous website and they create an entire page for you to easily share that content with your online friends!  Making sharing online content easy was a goal of Agarwal’s and with Posterous, he has succeeded.

In some ways, creating Posterous was a gratuitous experience for Sachin Agarwal.  In 2002, Agarwal graduated from Stanford University.  Armed with his degree in Computer Science, Agarwal went to work for Apple Computers.  As a specialist focused on the Final Cut Pro platform, Sachin Agarwal quickly became an expert in online publishing and blogging.  As Agarwal experienced New York City, he found he was taking a lot of digital photographs and he became frustrated with how difficult it was to share large batches of photographs.

Armed with that idea, along with a good friend and fellow programmer, and feeling finished with the New York City experience, Sachin Agarwal uprooted his life, moved to San Francisco and helped to build Posterous from the ground up.  In an effort to make a single platform for all forms of online content, Agarwal and his business partner Garry Tan went through the rigorous Y Combinator funding program.  Since graduating the Y Combinator program in 2008, Posterous has shown steady growth and the site remains one of the most intriguing online platforms.

Posterous may have been an afterthought on the ambitions of Sachin Agarwal, but Internet users have a lot to be grateful for that he kept innovating after he had already accomplished his dreams!
