Troy Chevalier Is Making It Possible For Luminate To Change The Face Of Online Shopping!
Changing the face of shopping on the Internet is not as easy an idea to execute as it is to conceive. There are many different models for trying to lure websurfers into shopping, though the prevailing wisdom is one must have a site or interface that is rich with images. Shopping through pictures you find on the Internet is the basic idea behind sites like Shopalong and Luminate. Making it possible for you to buy what you see in pictures online is the job of the engineers at Luminate. Directing them and making Luminate successful is Troy Chevalier.
Troy Chevalier is the Vice President of Engineering for Luminate. Chevalier joined Luminate in 2011 and in the six months since he joined the image-based shopping site, he has increased the functionality of Luminate. Chevalier sees the value in making it as easy as possible for venders to use Luminate and one of his priorities since taking over the Engineering Department has been to make the Luminate platform easier for vendors to use.
Given that Troy Chevalier has over twenty-five years of experience in the tech sector, it is easy to see why Luminate was so eager to add him to their management team. Troy Chevalier earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Chevalier immediately put his B.S. to use as an engineer for Data General. For over a decade, he made his mark on Silicon Valley as an engineer writing code for Data General, Sun Microsystems, GO/EO and Borland. What really put Troy Chevalier on the map, though, was his work at Netscape.
Netscape hired Troy Chevalier as a Senior Software Engineer and their Software Development Manager. In that capacity, Chevalier wrote much of the code for Netscape Navigator! His fingerprints were also on the earliest Mozilla codes, which helped revolutionize the way web browsers worked. With his success at Netscape bringing him more attention in Silicon Valley than ever, Troy Chevalier had his choice of opportunities to pursue. Chevalier signed on with Tellme as the company’s Vice President of Platform Development. Troy Chevalier helped Tellme create such a great product that Microsoft purchased the company and kept Chevalier on while they integrated his programming with the Microsoft platform.
With his work for Tellme and Microsoft done, Luminate was lucky to find Chevalier looking for his next challenge. Now, Troy Chevalier is leading the Luminate team to make the online browsing and shopping experience exciting again. With Luminate, Chevalier is helping to create a system that makes an easy transition from seeing a picture to a secure online payment to buy the products in any picture. It is a daunting task, but Troy Chevalier is making it happen. If anyone can make the Luminate idea into a fully functional platform, it is Troy Chevalier!
