The New MacBook Pro Will Be Improved By Ivy Bridge Technology!

While it seems like Apple Computers’ big release of 2012 is likely to be iPhone 5, the new iPad and the iPhone 4S continue to sell remarkably well.  But handheld devices and tablet computers are not the only Apple product lines.  The MacBook Pro is getting exciting new upgrades that are energizing Apple consumers.

The MacBook Pro has been the highly successful laptop computer line-up from Apple Computers for over six years.  The new 15” MacBook Pro will be an upgrade from the prior version, not a radical overhaul.  With most major Apple retailers selling out, and not replenishing, their current inventory of MacBook Pro laptop computers, it is all-but-certain that the release of the latest MacBook Pro will occur in the second Quarter or very early in the third Quarter of 2012.

The first big change that the new MacBook Pro will have is an improved processor.  The 15” MacBook Pro will likely feature the Core i7-3820QM chip.  This advanced chip runs on Intel’s new Ivy Bridge framework.  In practical terms, the upgrade to the Ivy Bridge-based processor will allow the new MacBook Pro to run programs at least ten percent faster than with the current Sandy Bridge chipset.  For some applications, performance may be boosted up to twenty percent and graphics-intensive programs should see a disproportionately fast performance boost.  That means gamers, filmmakers and visual designers will find their images, games and programs render video noticeably faster.  Theoretical test models for the Ivy Bridge Core i7-3820QM chip showed improvement ranging from 38% faster graphics to 108%!

The MacBook Pro may also feature a Retina display monitor.  The new screen-type, with exceptional resolution, is one of the key selling points for the new iPad.  The marketplace success of the iPad makes it harder for Apple to release the new MacBook Pro laptop computer with a monitor that has any less resolution than that.

Because the MacBook Air, a lighter laptop computer that moves away from the traditional laptop computer model, has been a reasonable commercial success for Apple Computers, there is a lot of speculation as to whether or not the new MacBook Pro will have more similarities to the Air line.  If it does, the new MacBook Pro would arrive on the market with a solid-state drive in place of a traditional hard drive.   It would also likely not have a standard optical (CD/DVD) drive.

With faster processing speeds, a lighter framework and potentially breathtaking new monitor technology, the forthcoming MacBook Pro is a great reason to wait a little longer to upgrade your laptop computer!
