Shaherose Charania Is Inspiring Women In Technology!
One does not have to look very hard at the managers of tech companies, small and large, to find a company that is run exclusively by men at the highest levels. Apple Computers, the most profitable company on Earth, has only one woman on its Board of Directors and none of the executives at the Senior Vice President level or above are female! In many ways, the tech sector remains a “boy’s club.” Working very hard to change that is Shaherose Charania.
Shaherose Charania is the CEO and Co-Founder of Women 2.0. Women 2.0 is a company that focuses exclusively on fostering the growth of women in the tech sector. A networking and business mentoring program, Women 2.0 helps to guide women who are innovating new ideas in the tech sector from idea to start-up to viable business. Charania co-founded Women 2.0 to create a focused program that could better draw in investor capitalists to start-ups founded by women . . . and it is working! Last year, the mobile products division of Women 2.0 spun off into its own company, Founder Labs. In addition to being credited as the Founder of Founder Labs, Shaherose Charania now runs the company as CEO.
A Canadian by birth, Shaherose Charania was an exchange student before she was an entrepreneur. Charania went to Barcelona, Spain, and attended ESADE as part of an exchange program. In Canada, her formal education ended at the University of Western Ontario. Enrolled in the Richard Ivey School of Business there, Shaherose Charania graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration and promptly began applying it to tech sector businesses!
Shaherose Charania is an acknowledged expert in the field of mobile phones and she worked for TiE Global managing more than forty of their entrepreneurship centers. From there, Charania went on to JAJAH, where she served as Director of Product Management and Marketing. Her leadership running the marketing of the company made JAJAH very attractive in the Internet and communications sections of the tech marketplace; it was acquired by Telefonica/O2.
While working for JAJAH, Charania co-founded Women 2.0. A dedicated executive, Shaherose Charania is almost constantly multitasking. Even as she was shepherding Women 2.0 into an active presence in the business world and tech sector, Charania served as Director of Product Management for Talenthouse. She has since been an advisor for Ribbit and Opinno, all the while advising companies that are just getting started through Women 2.0.
Now that Founder Labs is its own entity, Shaherose Charania has more on her plate than ever. Given the number of successful businesses she has helped launch through her Women 2.0, it is hard to imagine that Founder Labs will be anything but successful as well!
