Managing The Future Of Healthcare Online, Anna Haghgooie Is Up To The Task!
With the debate continuing in the political arena over the future of healthcare in the United States, it might not surprise you to learn that private entrepreneurs are already looking to pick up the slack from where government programs might leave off. In fact, many new businesses are utilizing the Internet to spread information and form communities online where users work together toward common health and fitness goals. One such online community that is currently growing is EveryMove. As a member of the Board of Directors of EveryMove, Anna Haghgooie is responsible for keeping the venture capital flowing to the start-up!
Anna Haghgooie is a managing director at the venture capital firm Sandbox Industries. It was in her professional capacity at Sandbox Industries that Haghgooie encountered EveryMove. EveryMove had a stroke of luck when they applied to Sandbox Industries and Anna Haghgooie read about their burgeoning social network as Haghgooie’s expertise is an uncommon one, existing at the intersection of the health care and venture capital fields! When Anna Haghgooie became a managing director, she indicated a strong desire to sit on the Board of any health care company in which Sandbox Industries invested. That is exactly what happened with EveryMove.
While much of her formal education focused on her interest in business and finance, Anna Haghgooie has long had an interest in the healthcare industry. She studied Accounting and Finance at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts. From there, Haghgooie moved to Chicago. In Chicago, Haghgooie had a chance to explore her passion for health care at the alternative medicine fertility center Pulling Down The Moon. As the General Manager of Pulling Down The Moon, Haghgooie had a chance to see how medicine was being practiced in innovative new ways and she became an expert in the management of small healthcare facilities.
At the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Anna Haghgooie worked on her MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance. As she worked for her graduate degree, Haghgooie took an internship at Sandbox Industries. Through the internship, Anna Haghgooie applied her knowledge of both the health care industry and venture capitalism to advise the firm on investing in various start-ups.
One of the start-ups that Haghgooie advised Sandbox to invest in was EveryMove. Like CalorieCount provides its community’s users with rewards for meeting dieting goals, EveryMove is a growing online community that is providing its users with rewards for meeting various health and exercise goals.
With Anna Haghgooie sitting on the Board of EveryMove and enthusiastically working as a managing director of Sandbox Industries, the future of tech-based health care is starting to look up!
