Kristin Acker is the Vice President of Products and Design at Zillow.com, where she has been an active executive since 2007.  For the past five years, Kristin Acker has worked to raise the profile of Zillow.com.  At the same time, Acker has worked to ensure that the site itself remains both functional and stylish.  Given how easy the site is to use, Kristin Acker seems to be doing a pretty wonderful job!

A native of California, Kristin Acker only left the state when opportunities knocked from up north; Microsoft’s offices in Seattle.  Kristin Acker attended the prestigious Stanford University, where she divided her studies between Economics and Political Science.  Fascinated by both areas, Acker applied herself and earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees.  After that, she took a year off to sail the oceans as a staff member on Royal Caribbean International’s cruise ships.  Acker was wooed back to land by Microsoft, when they offered her a position that would more directly use her degrees.

Kristin Acker got her start in the tech sector working for Microsoft on several of the consumer products the company developed and released from 1989 to 2000.  As a specialist focusing on interface design, Acker helped develop Microsoft Money, Works, Picture It and Publisher.  If you have used any of those products, you have Kristin Acker to thank, in part, for their look and feel.  After more than a decade with Microsoft, Kristin Acker decided to apply her skills elsewhere.

As a Program Manager at Expedia, Kristin Acker became intimately familiar with how Internet-based businesses worked.  Her years at Expedia made her an asset to smaller companies, like Pure Networks and PictureIQ, where she worked until Zillow.com made her an offer she could not refuse.

At Zillow.com, Kristin Acker continues to make a difference by making the site more user-friendly and fun to visit!
