Helping The Tech Sector Deal With China, Jing Ulrich Is Shaping The Future.
As more and more technology purchased and used in the United States is manufactured in China and China has one of the world’s few growing economies, relations between the United States and China are especially important. While there are numerous government organizations and individuals that negotiate trade and commerce between the United States and China, there are very few people who are truly considered experts on trade and commerce with China. One of the most important voices in advising both China and the United States on investing is Jing Ulrich.
Jing Ulrich is the Managing Director and Chairman of Global Markets, China Division, of JPMorgan. JPMorgan is the largest United States bank, based on assets and market capitalization. As the head of JPMorgan’s specialized team that focuses on relations with China, Jing Ulrich is the most influential voice in determining how American citizens and corporations invest in China.
Born in Beijing and now residing in Hong Kong, Jing Ulrich truly is a student of the world. While she was born and raised in China, Ulrich immigrated to the United States for her college years. At Harvard University, she earned her B.A. in English and American Literature. Her interests shifted when she went to Stanford University for her graduate work. In 1992, Jing Ulrich graduated with her Master’s degree in International Relations.
From Stanford, Jing Ulrich went to work for Bankers Financial Investment as an equity analyst. Eager to pursue work that pertained to her interests in international relations, Ulrich moved to Washington, D.C. in 1994. There, she worked for Emerging Markets Management as a fund manager specializing in China. At Emerging Markets Management, Jing Ulrich distinguished herself and CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets hired her away in 1997. Over the subsequent seven years, Ulrich became an expert on investing in China and led a team that made impressive inroads in China.
That experience brought Jing Ulrich to the attention of Deutsche Bank. Hired as the Managing Director of Greater China Equities, Jing Ulrich continued her meteoric ascent through the financial world by opening up new opportunities for foreign investments in China. In 2005, Ulrich attained such a status in the financial markets that JPMorgan’s China investment team was unable to compete with her, so they hired her as the Managing Director and Chairman of Global Markets, China Division.
With her insights and experience, Jing Ulrich is guiding American investment in the world’s largest emerging market; her guidance shapes the China-based operations of innumerable technology companies!
