From Education To Managing Microsoft, Maria M. Klawe Is Invaluable To The Board Of Directors!
In the tech sector, every major company that has a Board of Directors uses different criteria to choose who will serve on the Board. Even so, there are some similarities in how the various Boards are assembled. The Boards of Directors of the most successful companies in the tech sector tend to feature Directors who might not be intimately tied to the tech sector. Klawe is one of the diverse voices that helps to guide Microsoft’s Board of Directors.
Maria M. Klawe is the President of Harvey Mudd College, a prestigious college known for its engineering, science and mathematics departments. Once Klawe returned to the University of Alberta, it was hard to get her out! At the University of Alberta, Maria M. Klawe earned her Bachelor’s of Science, Masters and eventually her Ph.D. in Mathematics. Following her successful completion of her Doctorate work, Klawe moved to Toronto. She began there as a research scientist, but soon her talents were applied to management as she took over directing the Discrete Mathematics Group. After fifteen years at UBC, Klawe immigrated to the United States and took positions at Princeton and later Harvey Mudd College. Through her effective management of Harvey Mudd College, Maria M.
