Dale Sohn is the Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics and the President and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America. In those roles, he is essential to managing, promoting, and developing all aspects of Samsung’s strategy as far as mobile computing devices and smartphones is concerned. Born and raised in Korea, Dale Sohn now resides in Texas, where he oversees some of the most important assets developed by Samsung.
In 1989, Dale Sohn began his career with Samsung Electronics in Korea. There, he began as a Sales Manager. Dale Sohn proved to be exceptional at his job and in less than two years, he was promoted to General Manager. In January 1994, Dale Sohn was promoted to Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing for Samsung Telecommunications America. The promotion came with a move and Dale Sohn left Seoul for the United States. He served at the Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing for STA until late in 1995.
While in the United States, Dale Sohn was accepted to the prestigious Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Eager to better himself and to advance at Samsung, Dale Sohn spent 1996 and 1997 deep in study. In 1997, he earned his MBA in Business and Samsung wooed him back to Seoul for a new executive position: Vice President of Global Strategy Alliance!
Dale Sohn served Samsung for six years as the Vice President of Global Strategy Alliance, where he focused on outsourcing jobs. By contracting out to other factories and countries, Sohn helped make Samsung more profitable. In May of 2006, Dale Sohn was promoted again and he took up residence in Texas. As the President and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America, Sohn has been responsible for every major product release for Samsung’s mobile operations in North America ever since!
