Creating Mobile Computing Devices For Individuals, Yves Gregoire Succeeds!
In the tech sector, there are many important companies whose influence is not felt as widely in the United States as it is in other parts of the world. One company that is still gaining footing in the United States is Archos. Archos has a significant market share in the consumer electronics market in Europe, especially France. Archos produces its own line of portable audio and video players, tablet computers and netbooks. The man who pioneers the various technologies for Archos is Yves Gregoire and he is an impressive engineer!
Yves Gregoire is the Director of Research and Development for Archos. Because Archos is a significantly smaller company than Apple Computers or Samsung, Gregoire’s position is exceptionally important. As the head of Research and Development, Gregoire leads the team that determines which emerging markets Archos will gain a presence in. By independently developing tablet computers, personal digital assistants and digital video recorders, Yves Gregoire plays an integral role in the survival and profitability of Archos.
With an engineering degree from France’s ESEO Graduate School of Engineering, Gregoire entered the workforce as a software engineer at Thompson CGR. At Thompson CGR, Gregoire’s work brought him to the attention of engineers and executives at General Electric. Yves Gregoire went to work for General Electric Medical Systems where he worked for nine years improving mammogram technology, as well as other projects. Gregoire ascended to Lead Systems Designer, putting him in charge of developing many of GE’s significant medical research tools.
Yves Gregoire was a natural selection for directing Research and Development at Archos; it was a lateral move for him. After working for General Electric Medical Systems, Gregoire took the position of Director of Research and Development at Micrel/NKE. After four years of designing navigation systems for boats, Gregoire moved to Archos.
Since taking over the Research and Development division of Archos, Yves Gregoire has worked hard to keep Archos competitive and on the cutting edge of technological development. On his own, Gregoire developed a wireless remote control that allows one to connect a media player to a network, for which he holds the patent! Working with teams at Archos, Gregoire has patented at least four other products that have become popular consumer electronics, like a portable HD-receiving television!
Archos has succeeded in large part because Yves Gregoire is an exceptional manager of research and development. With Gregoire continuing to guide Archos into the tablet computer and digital media player markets, Archos is sure to continue its worldwide growth!
