If you find medical jargon difficult and health care laws and forms utterly incomprehensible, you are not alone!  While some would argue that it is the infrequency with which we deal with medical forms that makes all of us intimidated by the forms and directives needed to obtain, keep, and get reimbursement for, health insurance, many people who work within the medical billing and medical technology field side with the common folk.  One entrepreneur who has extensive experience with software, health care and start-ups has taken the stance that the system is far too complicated and he has decided he is going to change it!  That entrepreneur is Deepak Kumar and his company is FlexMinder.

Deepak Kumar is the Co-founder and CEO of FlexMinder.  Since May of 2011, Kumar has led FlexMinder in its mission of making healthcare accounts comprehensible and easy to manage.  Kumar’s FlexMinder site has only increased in popularity since the United States passed legislation mandating individuals purchase health insurance.  Deepak Kumar’s start-up certainly came at the right time to maximize its own usefulness!

In many ways, Deepak Kumar is the ideal individual to create a start-up like FlexMinder.  Prior to co-founding FlexMinder with like-minded technical and medical professionals, Deepak Kumar worked for Doxo as a Payment Consultant where he helped to create an interface that protected user’s banking information when dealing with medical billing issues.  Simultaneously, he was developing software for his own company, Yeti Software.  Kumar’s interest in both health care and software extends well beyond working for Doxo and running Yeti Software.

Deepak Kumar had over eleven years of experience in the software industry prior to focusing on his own start-ups.  In 2000, Deepak Kumar served as a Software Engineer for CombiMatrix.  For four years, he was the senior engineer on all of CombiMatrix’s software that the company released.  In 2005, Kumar went to OpenMarket as the Lead Software Engineer where he learned a great deal about online financing and mobile commerce.  With his success at OpenMarket, Qpass quickly offered him the position of Lead Software Engineer and Deepak Kumar was effectively poached by the software company.  For almost four years, Deepak Kumar led the software development, especially for mobile platforms, of Qpass.  He held similar positions, though for shorter terms, with GridNetworks, Zirk, and Amdocs.
