With The nPowerPEG, Jill LeMieux Has Her Work Cut Out For Her!
There are few phrases less applicable in the tech sector than “if a product is good, it will pretty much sell itself.” If that were the case, the Microsoft Zune would have been phenomenally more successful and Apple would not even be considering a mini-iPad. Instead, without great marketing, a good product can get buried by a competitor. Conversely, with a crack marketing team, an unimpressive product can appear so vital to consumers that it will sell a million units. So, in these times when energy efficiency is increasingly important and technology manufacturers scramble to build better batteries, a Vice President of Marketing for an alternative energy company might seem unnecessary. Nothing could be further for the truth at Tremont Electric, though. That is why Tremont Electric is thrilled to have Jill LeMieux.
Jill LeMieux is the Vice President of Marketing for Tremont Electric, the company that made a real splash at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2011 with their nPowerPEG human-powered battery charger. At the show, LeMieux was on-hand to highlight the differences between Tremont Electric’s radical innovation and the popular shake flashlight. Her ability to articulate the differences between the products in the marketplace and highlight the groundbreaking work Tremont Electric is doing makes her an ideal VP of Marketing.
LeMieux came to Tremont Electric with a B.A. in Visual Communication and Design that she earned from Purdue University. In her capacity as Vice President, she also uses the Masters of Science in Management that she earned at Indiana Wesleyan University, especially as the company continues to grow. The thirteen years Jill LeMieux spent in the work force were exceptional ones for tailoring her to the position she would get at Tremont Electric. LeMieux worked with Disney on licensing Disney products, gaining a stronger real-world appreciation of merchandise design. She also started Mode magazine and was its first editor. The industry magazine set a standard for women in direct sales.
At Tremont Electric, Jill LeMieux’s first major task was to market the nPowerPEG battery recharger. The nPowerPEG is a charger that transforms kinetic energy from movement – in this case bending your knees while hiking, walking or running – into potential energy in the battery of your electronic device! A fifteen minute walk can recharge a cell phone battery for a minute’s worth of calling time. Given that Tremont Electric sold out their initial production line and has backordered this revolutionary new product, it sure looks like Jill LeMieux did an amazing job!
