As online shopping has become more and more popular, there has remained a vocal minority of analysts who claim the movement is little more than a fad. So far, Internet shopping trends have illustrated well that consumers are willing to wait for their merchandise in order to get it less expensively. Consumers have also latched onto online companies like eBay and Amazon because their vast selection has no real-world equivalent in the marketplace. But outside cranky brick and mortar retail store owners and conservative commentators who fear change, there has been a consistent voice arguing that online shopping is not likely to endure. That voice has come from sociologists and the first real proof of their theories comes with a new deal reached by Nordstrom’s department stores and online retailer Bonobos. Read more »

For a long time, the fax was a tool of businesses everywhere. The facsimile was a great way to transmit documents that was quicker than using mail or courier services. With the rise of the fax machine, many laws involving acceptable forms of documentation came to include facsimile copies of important documents. Ironically, the speed of the rise of the Internet and e-mail communications radically outstripped the speed at which laws are altered. As a result, today facsimile copies remain legally relevant for many important documents, whereas e-mailed copies of documents do not carry the same weight. One solution to this problem is Fax Over Internet Protocols. Read more »

With so many forms of technology becoming interconnected, it is sometimes hard to keep up with all of the advances that hit the marketplace. Shortly after you buy a Blu-Ray player, for example, a new upgrade may easily appear that would allow you to do more with your simple Blu-Ray disc player. Fortunately, even as technology changes, there are often adapters that allow you to upgrade the device you spent good money on to work with the latest technology. The IOGEAR Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter – Ethernet to Wi-Fi N is one such adapter.
The IOGEAR Universal Wi-Fi N Adapter – Ethernet to Wi-Fi N adapter (Product number GWU627 in the IOGEAR catalog) is an adapter which connects to any of your Ethernet-ready devices. With technology in a constant state of development, it is very easy to find yourself in possession of equipment that is no longer state-of-the-art. In fact, prior to the development of USB standards, there was a remarkably short amount of time between when all sorts of technologies and interfaces went from being state-of-the-art to obsolete. Within the consumer electronics market, there is a significant population of people who cannot afford every upgrade or simply does not want to change their hardware simply because manufacturers have created something new. Catering to that market is StarTech.com and Paul Seed. Read more »

Apple Computers is now the largest, most cash-rich company on Earth. While hitting that apex is usually a cause for celebration – and Apple executives and stockholders have been celebrating, most notably by announcing a stock dividend – those who take a longer view of the company’s trajectory see the milestone as a potentially troublesome one for the company. For sure, when you reach the top the only way to go is down, but the real problem Apple faces is not with pessimists; it is with the company’s own image. Unfortunately for Apple Computers, Apple’s exceptionally successful publicity machine that helped the company rise to the top of the corporate food chain is now working against the computer and technology company.
