Microsoft’s Surface Laptop is Worth Consideration
As one of the top tech companies in the world, people hold Microsoft to lofty expectations, and rightly so. Microsoft has long been on the leading edge of the tech revolution, designing, developing, and releasing some of the best and most-used software and hardware on the market. Late last year, Microsoft fans were finally treated to something for which they had been waiting a long time: the first ever Surface laptop. After focusing on making unusual products and unique concepts, such as kickstand tablets and detachable 2-in-1 tablet / laptop hybrids, it was time for Microsoft to focus simply on making a no-gimmicks top of the line laptop, and it succeeded with the Surface laptop. Ultimately, it is a laptop with enough power to run all your apps and programs, but light and thin enough to carry around. It also has a high-resolution display and a good keyboard, and it comes at a reasonable price.
It is difficult to achieve a balance of power, utility, portability, and battery life that consumers want, and the Surface laptop does. It has a big battery that Microsoft claims can run for over ten hours without a charge, a few ports, and a good trackpad. Whether you choose the Intel Core i5 or i7 variants of its seventh generation processors, you get great graphics and plenty of speed. An obvious thing to keep in mind is access to laptop repair, but it has thus far been reliable thanks especially to its use of a unique operating system, designed specifically for this laptop, that solve some of Microsoft’s previous software problems. The price ranges from around $800 to about $2200 standalone depending on the processer, RAM, and internal storage, so there is a model to fit every budget that will be among the best for its price compared to others in that range. The total cost can be an additional $230 with the addition of a Microsoft Complete Warranty and Office 365 Home.
The Verge, among other publications, chose the Surface laptop as the best laptop to buy for 2017, and it is easy to see why. It is not perfect, but its imperfections are nothing that hinder it much. It does have a unique fabric surrounding the keys and covering the palm rests, an innovative touch but one that makes it a bit more difficult to clean. It is, however, less prone to the need for computer support due to its higher-end software and operating system, so this is a minor issue by comparison. It is worth noting that initially users could opt for Windows 10 Pro and will likely all be doing so since Microsoft has officially discontinued Windows 10 S. It has a few nice additional touches like compatibility with the Surface pen, touch sensitivity, and a beautiful display. For all these things, anyone looking into the laptop should certainly look at the Surface laptop as a top choice.
