PayByGroup CEO Camilo Acosta Makes Buying Things Together Easier
It is a common practice to pool money for major purchases. Large groups of friends will often combine their efforts to give someone a larger more significant gift than they could give individually, or pool their resources to go on a big vacation together that they otherwise would not be able to afford. Cool person in technology Camilo Acosta is using the Internet to make this process easier to organize with his service PayByGroup. PayByGroup streamlines the process of purchasing things together and can potentially turn the entire process of organizing people to split the bill into just a few clicks for everyone involved.
Crowdfunding has become an Internet phenomenon over the last several years. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo allow strangers to pull together resources all types of business and creative projects. However, Acosta and his company want to put a personal spin on this process with PayByGroup. By taking the crowdfunding model and applying it to smaller, more personal desires such as going on a group vacation, Acosta wants to make it easier than ever to split the cost of anything. Acosta organized his website much like other larger crowdfunding sites. Users can be either an “organizer” or an “attendee”. Attendees promise specific amounts of money to whatever the organizer’s goal is and once a certain amount is reached, the funding ends and the money is deposited into the organizer’s bank account for its intended use. Organizers invite attendees through social media site such as Facebook. For example, a son could organize a PayByGroup project to purchase his father a new computer and invite his siblings to pitch in through his social networking. Of course, once the father is having trouble with his computer, the son may need to start another project with his siblings to get him computer support service.
PayByGroup is not Acosta’s first tech company. He and PayByGroup’s CTO Frank Langston also worked on a company called Root Orange, which let small businesses share the same domain name by splitting its use regionally. Before founding his first business, Acosta worked for a government communications firm.
PayByGroup also offers integration for retail businesses that want to offer group purchasing through their own websites. Whether you are a consumer or you own a company, if you have trouble working with PayByGroup you should make sure you have phone tech support for help.
