Earbits Makes Music Discovery a Priority with its Streaming Service

Both on-demand music streaming and Internet radio services seem to be taking the music industry by storm.  Many streaming service options have flooded the market, including Spotify, Rdio, and Rhapsody, among others.  However, these services don’t do much to distinguish themselves.  They all tend to offer mostly major-label music, and they split their services into a limited free option that includes many advertisements and a paid option that limits the devices on which you can stream your music.  Joey Flores, CEO of Earbits, believes in a different model for Internet music streaming.  Earbits.com offers both Internet radio and on-demand music streaming free of cost but focuses on new and independent artists as opposed to the usual major-label music you find elsewhere.

“Earbits was founded with a completely different vision than any other streaming service,” Flores told RESCUECOM, “…We exist to help high quality artists reach a new audience.”  Flores views Earbits as much as a service for the artists as it is one for the listener.  “Even some of the highest quality independent and unsigned artists will never be on mainstream music services,” he explained.  Earbits gives independent artists a platform to promote their work and have it heard widely.  It also gives music lovers a chance to listen to many talented artists that they’ve never heard of before. If you’re having trouble streaming music from Earbits over an Internet connection, you may need networking support.

All of Earbits’ features are free from monetary cost.  However, one of the service’s most unique features is “Groovies”, the currency users earn by promoting artists they like.  At the moment, users can spend Groovies towards on-demand listening, but Flores says there will be more rewards coming.  He stated that many of those features “will involve connecting directly with the artists.”  Groovies have been very successful for the service so far.  Flores told RESCUECOM that since they introduced the currency, “mailing list signups went up by over 200%, while the percentage of users who would recommend artists to their friends went up by 20-36% across Facebook and Twitter.”

Flores isn’t finished adding to the service.  He has plans to roll out more features as the year continues. “We will be coming out with some calendar features in the coming months,” he informed us, “along with some rewards programs for top Groovies earners.”  Earbits also recently released an Android app. If you have problems using the app, mobile support is available for Android phones.  If Earbits’ CEO fulfills his ambitions, Earbits could turn into a robust Internet music service for anyone interested in upcoming or independent artists.
