The August Smart Lock Removes the Need for Physical Keys
Losing your keys is not a fun experience. You end up locked out of your home and unless someone who lives with you has a spare key, you have to go to great expense and effort in order to enter your house or apartment again. The August Smart Lock is a cool product that removes the risk of this happening to you. The team at August claims that, with their product, the only thing needed to enter your home is your smartphone. The device uses the combination of a mobile app and Bluetooth technology to recognize your phone when you approach and automatically unlock so you can enter as soon as you get to your door. You can log into the app from any mobile device, so you won’t have to worry about problems if you change your phone. However, it is probably best to make sure you have a smartphone computer support service available in case your phone breaks at an inopportune time.
The August Smart Lock could also be useful in giving others access to your house or apartment easily. Where you would otherwise have to lend someone a spare key physically or let them in yourself, you can give someone access by simply sending them a virtual key on their phone with August Smart Lock app. You can even set time limits on keys so others can only enter home at specific times of day or night. This could be helpful if, for example, you hire someone to clean your house for two hours once a week. You can give them access to your house for only that allotted time by using the smart lock rather than give them a key so they can enter at any time.
The team at August has implemented several security features to address potential issues with the smart lock. Since they base their key database in the cloud, you can access it from any mobile device. This means if someone steals your phone, you can log on from any other device and cancel your phone’s access to the house. If your phone dies before you get home, you can also log in on any other device you own, or even a neighbor’s phone, and gain access to your house once again. Even with these features however, you will want to make sure you take care of your phone’s Internet security, lest a hacker gains access to your phone and therefore also your home.
