Iceotope Uses Liquid Cooling Tech to Improve Servers

Most companies and individuals running servers for hosting purposes use air cooling systems to keep their servers’ temperature.  Overheating is a major problem and can lead to needing onsite computer repair services that are very costly.  Iceotope is a cool product that provides an alternative in inefficient air cooling systems for customers’ servers.  This cool product uses liquid cooling technology to cool servers so that it can maintain server systems more effectively.  With liquid cooling systems, servers are less likely to malfunction due to overheating.  It also takes less effort to maintain optimal temperatures in server rooms with Iceotope powering the cooling system for a server.  With Iceotope on the market, it’s hopeful that it will be easier to keep server temperatures under a reasonable amount of control.

Iceotope doesn’t use regular water to cool down computer systems, as doing so would create all kinds of hazards and issues due to how well water conducts electricity.  Instead, Iceotope uses a chemical coolant that resists electricity but conducts heat extremely well instead.  Iceotope places each server system in a cooling module that uses this chemical coolant in order to keep the temperatures of any system down at a reasonable level.  Iceotope does not make this coolant themselves, as they only produce the necessary hardware to cool down large servers.  Customers purchase the chemical from 3M, who also develops it.  It’s similar to an automobile and gas model.  You need both to use the product, but you must purchase them from different sources in most cases.

Iceotope advertises its system as being appropriate for a number of different server use cases.  The company promotes its product at being capable of helping with high performance computing systems, systems used for cloud computing (for services such as cloud tech support), and even hosting that needs to be done in a hostile environment with heat concerns.  That means even if a server is in a less than ideal location, Iceotope claims they can help maintain it with its liquid cooling technology.

Liquid cooling tech has been available for regular desktops and smaller computing systems for some time.  In addition, people have also tried alternative styles of liquid cooling on larger systems in the past.  However, Iceotope is the first to use their particular system for the purpose of cooling servers.  This company claims to have a breakthrough product and if it works as they advertise, it will make a big difference for high performance computing in the future.
