Smartphones That Survive Underwater

Would you like to use your smartphone, tablet, or laptop underwater? That would be cool, but it is not yet possible. Soon, however, you will not have to worry about getting your mobile computing devices wet. HzO is a company that is devoted and its resources to finding a way to prevent water damage from destroying communication devices.

According to the HzO website, this dream began because of a tragic death. A young man fell overboard from a barge and died because he could not get either his cell phone or his radio to work after they had been in the water. If the phone or radio had been treated with HzO’s new WaterBlock coating, that young man might have lived.

HzO is currently talking to a variety of electronics manufacturers in order to begin using their new WaterBlock technology on smartphones and tablets. The WaterBlock technology is a very thin coating over the device that protects it from water damage. The coating is applied in a vacuum-sealed chamber as a gas, which settles into all crevices of the device, allowing for an even coating over the entire surface.

Nearly everyone who has witnessed the effects of the WaterBlock technology, which HzO demonstrated at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, was impressed. While the basic chemical processes involved are not revolutionary, or even new, the chemical formula is unique to HzO’s WaterBlock technology.

WaterBlock is a dramatic leap forward from the current bulky cases that protect phones from water and impact damage. The coating is invisible to the consumer and weights nothing. When combining this waterproofing technology with the new Gorilla Glass 2.0, our smartphones and other devices will soon be much harder to damage.

The WaterBlock technology is not meant for using your smartphone underwater for extended periods, but WaterBlock will save your device from accidental immersions that occur when you wash it with your clothes or drop it into a sink (or something else) full of water. While it has been proven that a WaterBlock treated phone did not need mobile computer repair after several hours in a tank of water, you should not try this with your own tablet or smartphone.

This amazing new technology, which may become commonplace in the next few years, does not mean that your smartphones, tablets, and laptops will be damage proof. In the future though, when you do find yourself in need of computer support, it will not be because of water damage.
