Create Your Own Cloud

There are plenty of different options for data storage available on the market and many of them work great. So why do we need a new device for data backup? The Samsung Optical Smart Hub is not quite the same as any of the other options, although it is not yet for sale. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung unveiled the Optical Smart Hub SE-208BW along with their many other great new products.

Until now, the options for data backup were CD/DVDs, tape drives, external hard drive, or a Cloud (a method of online storage for data). These are all great methods of backing up your data and programs, but they usually require you to connect to some other device in order to work such as a CD/DVD burner.

If you are looking for a more secure, off site method of data backup, however, look no further than Rescuecom. Rescuecom provides online backup on our secure servers so that you will never lose your valuable information.

The Samsung Optical Smart Hub offers three  options for data backup in your home. You can wirelessly access the Smart Hub from your laptop or smartphone and either backup your files to an external hard drive connected to the Smart Hub, burn a CD/DVD in the optical drive, or create your own personal cloud at home.

The other functions of the Smart Hub are just as impressive as its ability for data backup. The backed-up files on the Smart Hub can go the other direction as well, with streaming video, music, and other media from a CD/DVD or the external hard drive directly to your laptop or smartphone.

This ability to wirelessly connect and play movies or other media would allow you to enjoy your favorite media from anywhere in your home on your mobile device or laptop without being tied down and without taking up space on your device. The only requirement is to download the Samsung app that will connect your wireless devices to the Smart Hub.

The Smart Hub is currently compatible with Windows, Mac, and Android. Samsung is working on an iPhone app, a Kindle app, and a Smart TV app. When released, the Samsung Optical Smart Hub SE-208BW will sell for about $129.99, which is far cheaper than buying a new tape drive backup system.

If you cannot afford to buy one of these new devices, you can stick to the less expensive methods of data backup: burn a disk or save to an external drive – although these methods tend to be less reliable for long-term data backup. Tape drives are very reliable alternative because they last longer and have high capacity, although they could be too expensive for individuals or small businesses.

No matter what you choose, you can know that if you have problems and need a full home data recovery, you can trust the professionals at Rescuecom to know exactly how to help you fix the problem.
