Then, you bought a computer and a cell phone for your children. Suddenly, you cannot understand a word of the text messages they send you.

What is the one major problem with tablets? If you answered with something similar to “They do not have keyboards,” then you are among the majority of frustrated tablet and touch screen smartphone owners. Tablets are great; they are portable, lightweight, easy to use, and great for working outside the home or office. Tablets are the hot new item over the last two years and many people would love to be able to discard their laptop in favor of their new tablet.
There is just one problem with replacing laptops with tablets and it is a huge problem for users. The lack of an actual keyboard makes typing on a tablet a hassle. Typing on the virtual, onscreen keyboard is slow, imprecise, and awkward. The angle for holding your wrists and arms is completely wrong, and there is also the problem of trying to hold the tablet and type with both hands at the same time.

Would you like to use your smartphone, tablet, or laptop underwater? That would be cool, but it is not yet possible. Soon, however, you will not have to worry about getting your mobile computing devices wet. HzO is a company that is devoted and its resources to finding a way to prevent water damage from destroying communication devices.
According to the HzO website, this dream began because of a tragic death. A young man fell overboard from a barge and died because he could not get either his cell phone or his radio to work after they had been in the water. If the phone or radio had been treated with HzO’s new WaterBlock coating, that young man might have lived.

When the casual concept for such an idea turns into a viable business unexpectedly, sometimes the innovators themselves are surprised. That is exactly what happened with Outfit 7 and Samo Login.
Samo Login is the Founder and CEO of Outfit 7, a Slovenian mobile app company. Outfit 7 is best known for the Talking Tom application, an animated cat that you upload to your smartphone. The cat repeats phrases you say to it and interacts in a limited digital environment. Samo Login’s concept for the figure was to create a toy for mobile phone users. With more than two hundred million Talking Tom apps downloaded, Samo Login’s concept seems to have truly taken off!

Wild Chords is an application, currently exclusively available for the Apple iPad, that helps teach you how to play the guitar. In order to use Wild Chords, all you need is a guitar and an iPad; you do not need speakers or an amplifier if you are using an electric guitar. Every company in the technology sector has a strategy and few companies have been as open about their outlook for the market as Nokia. Nokia, the mobile phone manufacturer, is widely attributed with connecting one billion people to cellular networks through their innovative and popular devices. Recently, Nokia unveiled its “Next Billion” Strategy. While their stated goal is clear – Nokia wants to be the supplier for another billion mobile phone customers – their exact strategy to reach the goal is not as evident. However, it is Mary T. McDowell who will be responsible for achieving the Next Billion goal!
Mary T. McDowell is the Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia. This means that the ultimate decisions and responsibilities for all things having to do with mobile phones at Nokia fall upon her. While Nokia’s CEO plays an important role in achieving the Next Billion Strategy, McDowell’s marketing prowess with mobile phones will go a long way toward determining the success or failure of the plan. Given that McDowell was the executive that shepherded the popular and wildly successful E-Series mobile phone from Nokia to the global marketplace (well in advance of the current CEO taking that position), it looks like McDowell is more than up to the task.
