Many technology companies are in the business of mobile payments, including juggernauts Google, Square, and Isis. Most of these companies depend on a technology called NFC or Near Field Communications for their mobile payment systems. However, the problem with this system is that it is expensive and difficult for many vendors and retailers to implement in their stores. Therefore, mobile payments aren’t seeing widespread use and customers are still carrying around many different credit and debit cards in their wallets. Omne is a cool product that attempts to solve the same issues as mobile payments—consolidation of your wallet—but does do from a different perspective. Rather than pay with your mobile phone directly, Omne allows you put all of your credit and debit card accounts on a single payment card. This card works at any vendor who accepts credit cards so stores need no large and expensive overhauls to accept the payment. With all your accounts on a single card, you can make payment all the more convenient and may even be able to eliminate the clutter of your wallet. Read more »

EBook publishing grows significantly as an industry every year. More and more companies have begun to offer direct publishing options and eBook conversion tools for authors and publishers. However, these services, such as the popular Smashwords, focus almost entirely on standard prose eBooks. With tablets and smartphones getting better displays all the time, the industry needs similar publishing services and conversion tools for graphical publications. Cool Person in technology Micah Baldwin is filling that role with his company Graphicly.
Baldwin has built a service that handles the conversion and digital distribution for comic books, graphic novels, children’s books and even photography publications. Artists and authors simply upload their book once and Graphicly converts it into multiple distribution formats for both the web and mobile. Baldwin’s company then distributes the graphical eBook to several different online marketplaces as well, including Amazon’s Kindle bookstore, Apple’s iBooks store, and the Google Play Store. Readers who have trouble downloading books for their mobile devices on any of these marketplaces should speak to someone for mobile tech support. Read more »

Wasserman originally founded Artisan under the name of appRenaissance in Philadelphia in 2010. His goal has always been to improve the mobile app development and design processes for businesses. Wasserman’s mission benefits everyday customers as well. Consumers who have needed mobile tech support to properly handle the apps on their phone know all too well how sloppy app design can be frustrating. Clearly, Wasserman is a cool person in tech who is trying to improve the app development process for the benefit of businesses and consumers. Read more »

SwiftKey is one of the most successful pieces of Android software in the history of the operating system. Millions of people have downloaded the keyboard app and used it to replace the less popular stock keyboard of the operating system. What makes SwiftKey so popular? The people behind the technology designed SwiftKey to be an effective and convenient program that accurately predicts what you are trying to say as you type it, saving you time as you send your messages by e-mail and text on your phone or tablet. Dr. Ben Medlock, a computer science expert specializing in Natural Language Processing, is the man behind this technology. Dr. Ben Medlock is currently the CTO of SwiftKey, which he founded with current CEO Jon Reynolds in 2008. While Reynolds runs the business side of the company, Medlock is in the man in charge of the SwiftKey program itself. Medlock’s technology has clearly resonated with Android users, as the app constantly remains one of the most popular in the Android store. If you need help replacing the Android keyboard with SwiftKey on your mobile device, you should call for mobile support. Read more »

Social media is quickly becoming a bloated market these days. It seems there are a million different social platforms all competing for your attention at any given moment. So how does Pheed, a new mobile-focused social network, intend to stand out from the pack in such a competitive space? According to Chrysta Olson, the company’s Communications Director, Pheed offers an “all-in-one” solution to social networking and media sharing that the company believes will appeal to a large audience. “People are getting overwhelmed managing so many separate accounts,” Olson told Rescuecom, explaining that Pheed intends to put all forms of social media—text, video, music, voice recording, photos, and even live broadcasting—into one online space. The concept is that rather than go through the tedious process of managing several different social media accounts such as Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube on a daily basis, Pheed users will be able to access all forms of media in one convenient space.
