Treemo Labs CEO Brent Brookler Creates Flowboard for Better Presentations
With so many professionals using mobile and touch technology nowadays, it was inevitable that someone would make software to optimize presentations on such devices. That cool person in technology is Brent Brookler, the CEO of Treemo Labs. Brookler and his company have created an iPad app called Flowboard. Flowboard allows users to create dynamic presentations right on their tablet. Brookler and his company designed the app to have an easy-to-use interface. In theory, Flowboard allows people to create presentations more easily by avoiding complicated menu systems. Brookler wants to make it so laptops aren’t necessary for professionals making presentations for meetings on the go. In some ways, Flowboard is his attempt to let people replace their work laptops with iPads in certain situations. Those who want to do so should make sure they have iPad support to help with the transition.
Brookler originally was the co-founder and president of games and entertainment at mobile games company Mobliss. In 2004, the Index Corporation purchased Mobliss and Brookler quickly moved on to his next venture, founding Treemo Labs in 2005. Treemo Labs has run mobile applications for CBS in the past, including apps for popular TV shows Survivor and Harper’s Island. However, Brookler is expanding with Flowboard and attempting to have Treemo publish its own apps independently. Brookler sees an opportunity with Flowboard and wants his company to seize it. With over fifteen years working in mobile apps, Brookler certainly has the experience to accomplish his vision potentially.
Brookler also attempts to distinguish Flowboard from traditional presentation software like PowerPoint in more ways than its touch optimization. Flowboard focuses on images and text rather than charts or tables. It also attempts to take full advantage of touch in the presentations themselves, allowing for the use of touch gestures and encouraging interactivity. Brookler is a cool person in tech that wants to not only make creating presentations easier, but also make the presentations themselves more attractive.
Brookler has also made sure that people can view Flowboard creations on any device. He and his team have made it so users can share Flowboards to a unique URL to share with other people and access on devices other than an iPad. Brookler obviously wants to create a social element by encouraging web sharing. This system also makes it easy to use Flowboards for large-room presentations by making them web-accessible. If you have trouble viewing your Flowboard presentation on web, you should ask tech support for help.
