Repair costs and quality for any type of machinery can be seriously nerve-racking.  Whether it’s computer repair, appliance repair or anything else, there is a general fear among consumers that repairs will cost too much or not last for very long once complete.

RepairPal certifies shops by holding them to a minimum standard that allows them a listing on Shaw’s site.  By meeting these standards, a shop is “RepairPal Certified”.  However, individual users can still post reviews about each shop that are public on the site.  Shaw wants the user reviews to help people determine between the shops that are only “good enough” and the ones that really provide a strong automobile repair experience.  Users who want to leave a review, but have trouble using the site can always purchase computer support services to get help.

Shaw’s website also provides a cost estimator.  The cost estimator on RepairPal gives customers a good idea of what their car repairs should cost.  Armed with this knowledge, consumers can then refuse any mechanic that tries to overcharge them.

Shaw is a cool person in technology who has built an incredibly successful career managing Internet companies.  RepairPal is far from his first startup.  Shaw has also founded Internet companies Connexus and myCFO, which he turned into successful ventures.  Shaw received an M.B.A. from Stanford as well, demonstrating that he has the education to go with his experience.  It is clear from his history that this cool person in technology has what it takes to make new Internet startups successful.  RepairPal is likely to be another success in his long list of accomplishments.
