GoSkyWatch Makes Astronomy Fun and Simple
Many people have a love for astronomy, and while some are content with simply gazing at the night sky, others fancy themselves amateur astronomers. There have been astronomy apps, some already built in to devices such as the iPad, for some time. These apps may answer our questions and give us a better view of space, but many find it too complex for what they need or desire more features. GoSkyWatch is an app with many features that make it more fun while keeping it simple enough for a child to use. It goes beyond merely showing you what you cannot see without a telescope and, unlike most of its kind that rely on a mobile device’s built-in digital compass, the technology works with the accelerometers in tech devices that ensures images on screens are always displayed upright. Since every phone and tablet has an accelerator, the app works on devices without compasses.
The key to GoSkyWatch’s use is in its simplicity, and its utilization of the accelerometer enables you to identify objects in the sky quickly and accurately without buttons to press or modes to select. With the app, you just point to the sky and start exploring. It features mobile tech support specifically for iOS phones and tablets, though it is compatible on other mobile devices. The app determines your location and shows you a detailed sky map. Planets are color-coded to show their relative brightness to other stars and zodiac sign constellations are marked with special lines so that you can spot them with ease. As it should be, it is especially efficient for outdoor use, featuring a red light mode to preserve night vision. The star magnitude adjusts to viewing conditions, there are viewing filters, and darker finder screens make for better night viewing as well.
Some elements of GoSkyWatch are unique, such as popup 3D interactive planets, animated constellation images, and its view of the constellations. While some similar apps connect the dots or give an outline, GoSkyWatch gives an overlay of the constellations with lines as well as the images the lines represent. There are Wikipedia links and even comet data, going beyond basic information to comet magnitude estimates, history, time lapse tracking, and more. Other information the app provides includes moon phases and sunrise / sunset times with day / night transitions and the ability to use the app no matter the time, going far into deep space to display objects well beyond what you can see. All you need is to remember the importance of a good computer support company to utilize the app’s many features. With this in mind you can go outside, explore, discover, and, most importantly, have fun.
