As CEO of PayNearMe, Danny Shader Wants People to Make Online Payments with Cash
Once of the few inconveniences of shopping online is the way in which the process limits the possible payment methods for customers. Due to the nature of the system, customers must always pay with a credit or debit card when making any sort of payment online, whether it be a loan payment, rent, or just the purchase of a t-shirt. This makes sense, of course, because there’s no viable way for users to pay with cash online. At least, that was the belief until cool person in technology Danny Shader founded his new startup PayNearMe to give people the chance to pay for online items with cash.
PayNearMe uses a system involving specialized bar codes and a system of thousands of retail partners to allow people to pay for online items with the cash that they have on hand. Rather than pay with a credit card in an online checkout system, PayNearMe users instead use Shader’s system to make payments online. Once people use PayNearMe online to make a purchase, they receive a specialized PDF with an individualized bar code on it. Users either download the PDF to their phone or tablet or print it out on physical paper before going to the nearest participating retailer. Those who have issues downloading the PDF or getting their printers to work properly can get help from a home computer support company. Retailers then scan the barcode and users can pay the amount charged to them online at the store’s cash register. Once someone makes a PayNearMe payment at the store, online merchants automatically process a customer’s order. Currently, 7-Eleven and Family Dollar are the two retailers that have partnerships with Shader’s company.
The PayNearMe system should appeal to anyone how has had trouble with online billing and payment in the past. Flaws with online billing systems that require online tech support solutions will be less of a threat when someone uses Shader’s system to pay with cash.
Before founding PayNearMe and becoming its CEO, Shader worked in mobile technology as the CEO of Jasper Wireless. He also has run two other tech startups like PayNearMe during his long career. He founded Accept.com, which Amazon eventually acquired, and he was also CEO of Good Technology before Motorola acquired that company. With experience in sales, wireless technology, and the startup scene, Shader is the perfect candidate to turn PayNearMe into a major success.
