BloomThat CEO David Bladow Wants to Make Flower Delivery Instant
Making an impulse decision to do something nice for a loved one or a family member is hardly a rare occurrence. While expending extra effort to do something thoughtful for another person usually isn’t really an inconvenience, it is unlikely that anyone will complain about a service that tries to make it easier to do so. Cool person in technology David Bladow has created such a service with his Internet company BloomThat.
BloomThat is an on demand delivery service for flowers and floral arrangements. While there are hundreds of flower delivery services both on the web and in the physical world, Bladow’s company separates itself by using technology to focus on speed and convenience. While people can order flowers for delivery on other websites, same day delivery is usually a bonus at best and takes several hours to complete even if it is an option. BloomThat tries to make flower delivery on demand. On the company website, Bladow claims that BloomThat gets flowers to their destination only 90 minutes after an order. While getting flowers from BloomThat may not be as fast as some cloud computer repair companies are at delivering service, Bladow’s company certainly blows much of its competition out of the water with its “Uber for flowers” model. Bladow’s goal is to create an on-demand feel for his service and feed into a customer’s sense of instant gratification. So far the model is working, as BloomThat is making serious noise in its home base of San Francisco.
Bladow also wants people to use BloomThat on mobile. He sees on-demand flowers as being a draw to people who want to quickly make impulse decisions and act right away. Users can simply make a few taps on their smartphone and flowers end up at their loved ones’ doors in less than a couple hours. Those who have trouble using BloomThat on a phone should try smartphone IT support.
Bladow was not an entrepreneur for stepping out of his comfort zone and founding BloomThat. Bladow did not even work in the tech startup world. Instead, this cool person originally worked in real estate, acting as the VP of Real Estate at Bladow Properties, a position he still currently holds. While Bladow may not have extensive startup experience, he certainly has a mind for business. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in international business management in 2007. Bladow will likely be able to adjust and apply his skillset well in his new role as CEO of a startup.
