May Habib Founded Qordoba to Give Companies Better Content Translations

Any company that wants to sell to an international audience needs a reliable and scalable way to translate their written contact, whether it be advertising or part of the project itself.  However, bad or awkward translations can be damning to a business that wants to appear professional and legitimate in a new market.  Word-for-word translations and computer software will not be able to create nuanced translations in multiple languages.  It doesn’t matter how much a computer support specialist helps a business tweak translation software. That company will never get software to create high-quality written translations for the written content that they promote.  While software helps with the issue of scalability, the technology is not at a point where it can produce the quality that enterprises need.

Enter cool person in technology May Habib, who is the founder of translation startup Qordoba.  While Qordoba uses the web to enable a scalable strategy to their translation services, the company does not attempt to use software in its process. Habib knows that high quality translations that account for idioms, awkward phrasing and cultural differences must come from knowledgeable human translators.  That’s why she has created an international network of thousands of translators in order to provide on-demand translation services for her client base.  Habib believes using technology to try to translate language is a mistake, and that the proper way to use technology to make translation easier is to use it to connect companies and people with high quality translators more quickly.  Habib’s company has translators available from several different continents and Qordoba can connect companies with them far quicker than businesses would be able to find high-quality translation on their own.  Companies do have to go through the Qordoba website to reach translators.  Businesses who have Internet trouble and difficulty reaching Habib’s site should revamp their business IT support for a better experience.

Habib splits her time between running two companies.  Besides running Qordoba, she has also founded and acts as CEO for HelloBooks.  HelloBooks is a multilingual subscription-based platform for eBooks.  While Qordoba remains Habib’s main focus, her ability to manage multiple companies remains impressive and demonstrates the drive that has helped make Qordoba so successful.
