Libboo CEO Chris Howard Wants to Make Book Discovery Easy
Libboo Founder and CEO Chris Howard believes that the way people currently discover new books is inefficient for both readers and authors. It is incredibly difficult for an author to find an audience without spending a significant amount of money towards advertising, storefront space and paying prominent reviewers to read your book. Many independent writers and authors backed by smaller publishers simply don’t have the necessary resources for such a marketing blitz. However, Howard is a cool person in technology that believes that he’s found a solution to that problem with his online service Libboo.
Libboo is an online book recommendation service that recommends books to users based on genre and topic. What sets Libboo apart from other basic recommendation services however is the feature Howard and his team refer to as “buzzing”. Users buzz books by sharing links to them over social media. If enough people click on their shared links, users earn rewards such as free books or coupons for large discounts. In theory, this encourages readers to share the books they like as much as possible to earn access to more free content. Essentially, Libboo attempts to solve the problem of marketing your book by using its service to incentivize word-of-mouth discovery online. Howard wants to use his online platform as a way for readers to discover talented authors with fewer marketing resources. Readers who need help using Libboo’s web services can contact online computer support for help.
The free books that Libboo rewards users with are eBooks that you can read on your tablet or smartphone. If you have trouble loading eBooks onto your phone or tablet PC, it is best to seek mobile tech support for assistance.
Howard’s path to tech entrepreneurship isn’t a typical one. Howard spent his early adult years as a musician and music producer before leaving the music industry at age 26 to go back to school. Howard would go on to earn his PhD in computational physics and chemistry from Reading University while working as a food critic and music producer part-time. After earning his degree, Howard was a research affiliate at MIT and a teaching fellow at Harvard before striking off on his own to build Libboo as a startup. Howard is a cool person in technology who has used his experiences in a variety of very different fields to turn his vision for a book discovery service into a reality with Libboo.
