TabbedOut Tries to Improve the Dining Experience for Both Servers and Patrons
Most of us have experienced it at one point or another: you’ve finished your meal at a restaurant and its taking far too long for the servers simply to close out your bill. Many have probably wondered if there was a way for recent advances in mobile technology, like smartphones and tablets, to improve this process. TabbedOut sets out to do exactly that. TabbedOut is an app found on both iOS and Android devices that allows patrons to check in to a restaurant and then pay their check when they are finished via their mobile device. In theory, this could save both the customer and servers valuable time and improve the overall experience of eating out. While there are many apps and services for purchasing take-out food, TabbedOut is unique in that it focuses on the experience of dining out. However, if you have problems operating the mobile app, you should ask mobile support for help.
TabbedOut doesn’t only serve consumers looking for an easier way to pay their check. The app works on both sides of every transaction and provides useful tools for restaurants to keep track of their customer base and find ways to improve service. “What started as mobile payments has transformed into a tool for merchants. Feedback that is left in the TabbedOut app is delivered directly to the owner or GM,” explained Nick Myers, the Marketing Manager for the company, “This means that the customer’s feedback about their experience goes straight to the source… The owner or GM of the restaurant can then respond directly and even include an offer for a discount that can be redeemed off the consumer’s next tab at that location.” Restaurants can use TabbedOut to communicate directly with their customers and receive constant and useful feedback. TabbedOut forgoes public restaurant reviews like those that one might see on Yelp or Urbanspoon in favor of this more direct connection between a restaurant and its customers. The company hopes that this will allow dining establishments to build a stronger connection with their customer-base.
CEO Rick Orr founded TabbedOut in 2009 and the company grew at a slow but steady pace, both by selling directly to specific merchants and through other merchants approaching them to try their service. They currently have thousands of locations using their services in metropolitan areas across the United States.
TabbedOut is available for Android and Apple smartphones currently. Myers informed Rescuecom that there are no current plans to release the app for any other platforms. That means if you want help using the app, you must seek Android or iPhone support.
