We are using our smartphones less and less for actual phone calls and more for mobile web browsing, text messaging, video chats, and apps. This implies that we do not like calling people anymore, not when it is far easier to simply text them or pull up a website. Of course, that applies to ordering takeout food as well.

Despite the growing number of choices in the tablet market, where nearly every company has multiple options for customers to choose from, there are two big names for tablets: iPad and Kindle. A few years ago, it would have been inconceivable for Amazon to enter the tablet computer market, but with the success of the Kindle e-reader, the Kindle Fire tablet took the 2011 fourth quarter by storm. Amazon’s sales of the Kindle Fire were boosted, in part by the $199 price tag. Compared to Apple’s iPad at $499, the Kindle Fire seemed like a real value to consumers. Now, other tablet computer manufacturers are following Amazon’s lead and offering more affordable options than Apple Computers.

Intel is the largest producer of computer processing chips in the world. Nearly every desktop and laptop uses Intel’s chips – Pentiums, Core i3, etc. – and they are reliable processors. Intel calls its current line of processors Sandy Bridge. Intel originally released the Sandy Bridge processing chips in January 2011, after announcing them in 2009. Read more »

Because just anyone can write or edit the articles on Wikipedia, they are often inaccurate or imprecise. For anyone who lives in – or has visited – New York City, you probably know about the televisions that are in the back of many taxi cabs. A significant number of taxi companies in New York City have installed televisions in their cabs that play a select set of programming for the taxicab riders. One group of fifty taxis is currently considering switching out those televisions and replacing them with tablet computers. Read more »

No matter how effecting the marketing departments for navigation apps for smartphones are, using your smartphone while driving is just dangerous. No matter how reliable wireless providers insist their networks are, they are not infallible. There is little worse than being lost because you have driven out of your network coverage area and lose your navigation tool! For those who plan ahead or travel with a laptop computer and can pull over for get directions from your computer while driving, there is no more reliable a navigation tool than Microsoft MapPoint 2011!
